Ballet for Adults

Whether you danced as a child and want to return, or you've always wanted to try ballet but never had the chance — our adult classes welcome you. Ballet is wonderful exercise for body and mind at any age, improving posture, flexibility, strength, and coordination.

Adult Beginner

Our Adult Beginner class is designed for those who are completely new to ballet or returning after many years away. We start from the very basics, building technique gradually in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. No experience necessary — just enthusiasm!

Adult Improver

For those who have mastered the basics and want to develop further, our Adult Improver class builds on fundamental technique with more complex exercises and combinations.

Adult Graded Classes

Adults who wish to work towards examinations can join our graded classes. Adult Grade 4 follows the RAD syllabus with examinations available for those who want them.

Silver Swans

Our Silver Swans classes are specially designed for dancers over 55. These classes focus on maintaining mobility, improving balance, and enjoying the benefits of dance in a welcoming, age-appropriate setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

I've never done ballet before. Can I really start as an adult?

Absolutely! Many of our adult students started as complete beginners. Our Adult Beginner class assumes no prior knowledge and builds from the very basics.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Leggings or tracksuit bottoms with a fitted top work well. You'll need ballet shoes (we can advise where to buy these), or soft socks for your first class.

I did ballet as a child but stopped years ago. Which class is right for me?

This depends on how much you remember and how long ago you danced. Adult Beginner is a safe starting point, but do get in touch and we can discuss which class would suit you best.

Do I have to take examinations?

Not at all. Most adult students dance purely for enjoyment. Examinations are available for those who want them, but there's no pressure to take them.
